The SAHS was one of the founding members of the association of Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. The four Swiss academies (the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, SAHS; the Swiss Academy of Sciences, SCNAT; the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, SAMS; the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, SATW) engage transdisciplinarily in matters of science and research. Their collaboration focuses especially on early detection, ethics and the dialogue between science and society.
